I got a setup just like Andromeda, i just got a 850w PSU and a supermicro X7SBE(only diff with him). It seems that i cant get the pci card to work. while booting, i can see them on the screen since my motherbaord scan the pci channels. They light up during the boot also. But once totaly booted onto the desktop, they are not lighten anymore and i dont see the drive in the console or in My Computer.
I probably installed the wrong drivers or something, could anyone help me please??

Thanks

Can you see the device in your device manager? I have one AOC-SAT2-MV8 and one AOC-SASLP-MV8 installed on my server (Shawshank in the DIY Home Servers section). The SAT2-MV8 did not install properly for me. When I went into the device manager there was an exclamation point next to the device, so I just manually installed the driver for there, and now it works.

More importantly, welcome to the forum :mss: :whs:

I just took from the CD. I copied over to a USB drive (I don't have a CD Rom drive hooked up). It was a little confusing figuring out what driver to use, horrible layout by Supermicro

I went with this path:

Driver -> Windows -> 3.1.0.17 -> i386 and grabbed the driver from there.

For the AOC SASLP-MV8, under the driver details it shows "Marvell 64xx/63xx SAS controller".

Driver Files:

C:\Windows\system32\Drivers\mv64xx.sys

Sorry, my build is a little different then yours (I am using a different case with separate hot swap cages). I have the AOC-SAT2-MV8 as well so I don't see why you can't get it to work. The SAT2-MV8 I had problems installing, the first few trys did not work correctly. The driver file details are: Marvel Serial ATA Gen 2 PCI-X Adapter and the driver is C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRIVERS\mvsata.sys. I can't find the disk but I do remember it was difficult to locate the driver

Do you have the correct cables? It sounds like you bought the wrong SATA to SAS cable if it is not working.

You need two reverse cables. They are directional for SAS to SATA.

If you believe you have the correct cables, unplug the card. Boot into WHS, remove the card from device manager. Turn off, reinsert the card and then reinstall with the directions dbone provided. If that failed, return the card or call supermicro for assistance.

Also, if you have that card, you don't have the same controller cards as Cavediver's Andromeda as you mentioned in your first post. He and I are using the AOC-SASLP-MV8s, not the SAT2-MV8 model.

If you're using the AOC-SAT2-MV8, you need two of these cables for each card.
