I have a 16 GB Patriot Exporter USB flash drive that I was going to use on my HTPC for TV buffering / recording, but that didn't work out the way I wanted. So, I'm trying to find another use for it, and I was thinking of using it as a readyboost device for my V1 server, which has 2 gigs of RAM and a Pentium 4 socket 445. I have an assemblage of pool and non-pool drives from WD, and Samsung, ranging from 2TB to 400 GB. 4.5 TB total thus far. My understanding is that readyboost does not augment RAM, but rather helps with disk cache. I'm sure if readyboost does anything else.

Has anybody used readyboost with V1, do you like it, am I wasting my time? I figure that I might as well do something useful with this usb stick.

I don't think so, WHS v1 is based on Server 2003 and Readyboost didn't come out until Vista.

Server 2008 (same kernel as Vista, what WHS 2011 is based on) doesn't support it either...
