I'm on the hunt for a perfect WHS server case if anyone can help me....

Ideally I need it to be as small as possible, close to the size of my EX490 but also have space for 4 hot swap drive bays. Needs to have space for an internal SSD drive and also 2 pci slots for TV tuner cards.

The closest I can find seems to be the CFI A7879 but it only has 1 pci slot.

Any tips or other suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

Thats going to be hard to find specially with more than one expansion slot. I'll keep an eye out.

I would have a look at this Chenbro enclosure: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6811123154 Available slots are a function of whatever motherboard you select and not the enclosure.

both nice cases, but the chenbro has no expansion ports. I do own 3 of the Chenbro's and would have a hard time deciding between the two if i had the need for another SFF.

To top it off, they are both mITX. I don't think anyone makes an mITX or FlexITX with 2 PCIe/PCI expansion slots.

Maybe mini-PCIe... but that's a different thing..

I hate to say it, The only small form factor case i can think of is the HP Microserver. that has a PCIe 16x and a PCIe 1x room for 4 3.5" hotswaps. a top bay for another 3.5" or 2.5". and if you really want, you can shove an SSD into the middle of the machine for 6 drives. that is if you route the eSATA back into the case..

but that is not a case, that's a whole server.
You will need a modified bios for it to unlock the SATA if you want to run more then 4 hard drives at full speed.

EDIT:
the more that i think about it. more you will need a micro ATX case and motherboard.
something like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6811124130 and a 5 in 5 drive cage like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6817121405. You would have to mod the drive cage with a fan controller or replace the fan to quiet it down.

at 17" x 7.5" x 14.1" , it is probably bigger then you want (HP is 6.1 x 3.7 x 5.7 inches), but it should be fairly silent and be able to do all you need and then some more. you also gain an extra 3.5" hotswap and stay in the same price range.

Otherwise you might have to go to USB tv cards?
