My LX195 processor runs about 58C (no load, good ventilation, ~70F ambient) with fan RPM about 1050.

I read elswhere that the Atom can operate up to 85C.

I'm curious if my value is typical. Anyone else?

My EX485 runs about 60c all the time, load or no load. I had a previous unit and it too ran close to 60c ... actually 53-58c was normal for it. I gave up trying to keep up with the jones around here and quit worrying about it. If it is hot, then by golly it is hot. It works! Kudo's to the guys who get theirs down to 30'ish.....

I am 50C idle, which is just too much. I ordered a replacement fan from newegg. I'll let you all know what that simple replacement does for me

What unit? EX4xx or LX195?

I suggest we all indicate what unit we have when posting here (or in similar threads) to avoid confusion going forward. Please also indicate if the unit hardware is not "stock" or if you have any software that might significantly load the CPU and therefore be misleading... (Thanks)

My EX475 (LE1640, 2GB, 4 disks) idles around 23 - 38 degrees C depending on the ambient temperature in my basement. Currently it is at 27C with an ambient of 69F. I use the MSS Fan Control Add-In (it's for EX47x units only) and the fans are currently running at 1670/1562 rpm. CPU load seems to averagr 5% with occasional peeks to 7-11% and valleys to 0-2%. (Average NOT computed scientifically!)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is the general discussion for LX195 hardware issues, right? :D I just got mine and was disappointed to see the temp.

I just put a new fan in, I'm going to wait a while to see what the temp is and then do a before, after

Right now I idle at 50C and hit about 55-56C at peak times

Much better! Down to the 30s with just a single fan replacement. Took all of 5 min, and hopefully I've increased the life of my unit

The fan is a lot louder obviously, but it's in the basement so who cares? :)

Also, do you think that it matters the way the fan blows? Should it be blowing inwards or outwards?

Thanks!

Mine is running at 67C right now. It is a standard configuration and idle.
