This is the New MSS base with debug ports mod. I started thinking of that when I read the post “what’s this mobo header for” And all the holes the guy’s were making in there mss. I was afraid to open the mss and see what I can do so there would be no holes. It stayed in the back of my head for a long time, always thinking of it. 4 weeks ago I decided to take the plunge and to see what I can do or make so that I don’t have to drill a hole in my mss. I had to empty the mss even removing the bottom base plate of the mss. That is when I saw the square hole that the cables could go through and then I started to build some models in cardboards to see if it could work. Then I made the first one in wood, to see how it looks. The second one was made in metal. I then went to a small machine shop to get stainless steel, made one so you guys can see it better. I like the style. (My welding is not perfect) My second one was painted black. The pictures are not good. My mss was in pieces for 4 weeks. I want to thanks YMBOC for the “mobo header” CAKALAPATI for is help on the cable. (I never did made a cable before). YAKUZA for is help in finding the name for this mod and his help on building these post. Future adds on to the post: How to build the new MSS base with debug ports mod. How to install the new MSS base with debug ports mod. PS. So guys please give me time to build these posts.

How to build the new MSS base with debug ports mod. Don’t forget this is home made. Or you can go to a machine shop to get it made. Items that you will need. One hammer One wood plank 10 “long by 6” wide by 1” thick 260 mm long by 152.40 mm wide by 25.40 mm thick. One sheet metal 34 inches long by 1” wide by 1/16 or 1/8 thick 25.40 mm wide by 1.59 mm or 3.18 mm thick (Choose the thickness that you want) One drill Drill bits Wood file Sander 1 hacksaw whit small teeth on the blade. You will need to do some welding Empty the mss Turn the mss up side down Remove the 4 rubber feet Remove the 4 screws Take the base plate and put it on the wood plank outline the base plate on it. Cut on the line or a little outside the line (for the people that are not cutting to often) Now make sure that the wood plank is the same size as the base plate if not You will have to sand it or use the wood file. Once it is the exact same size as the base plate, you will have to draw a line 1/16 or 1/8 (depending of the thickness of the sheet metal you took) on the inside edge of the wood plank. |

Jacmay -- Any chance of a template? That way some of the rest of us can maybe duplicate your efforts? It might be interesting to place a fan in the bottom, in the piece you created and maybe make some air slots for air to go up into case. Idea!! Could make the base a slight bit bigger ans cord a little bit shorter and put a drive in the base as a unpooled drive. you could use it to launch apps or as a backup medium for that addin Yakuza made that I cant find the name or a reference of. hahah!! HA HA !! found it: WHS Backup Database-Backup Add-In |
