hi guys
I've got a "dead" EX470 on my hands
bought in back in 2007 and it has served me well until about 6 months ago when it decided to go silent
the culprit was the PSU, and after searching hi and low I finally found tips here in this forum and last Monday I got a replacement PSU
carefully read about the tweaking needed for replacement PSU's and after a long check I could see all colors were on the right pins in the connector
OK so then I fire it up, I hear it start but now things do not go so well for me

so here's what happens:
fans go up to 100% and don't slow down
all disk lights are steady red
power and network indicators are steady blue
health indicator is steady purple

trying the reset button does not alter anything, no lights flash or anything, they just shine steady
neither does removing all HD's, lights keep on shining steady
tried to change boot disk to another one, but no - still all the same

I've read many posts regarding recovery files, but as the server does not boot up I can not get to them
is there really no other way to make a bootable USB drive than to get files from another server?
can't they be taken from the recovery disk? seen some hints in that direction

can this be solved or has my old server finally met its maker?

all suggestions appreciated

:whs: :sanjuan:

I would suspect that you have a crossed wire.
Or damaged a component or did not reassemble the server correctly.
If you press the reset button does it reboot?
If it were me I would start over.

BTW there are psu's available that are plug and play without mucking with the pinout.

tnx for reply Ruben
pressing the reset button does nothing :(
tried to make bootable USB but that too failed
so question remains - "scrap it" or "salvable"
last resort seems to be finding the files from within the server
but who can supply that?

If the reset button was working before and now not I would suspect. Back to checking the pinout on the psu.

Finding the files should be easy.
Connect the drive to a pc and enable view hidden files/folders.
