Without a doubt this upgrade is a MUST. I mean that Home Server Console takes forever to load with the default RAM. They knew that and even extended the warranty to upgraders. |

I decided to upgrade the memory in my HP EX470 to 1GB. Had no problems with the disassembly but when starting up after reassembly I'm having some problems. Even though the server seems to work OK, the LEDs for network, heath and hard drive are no longer illuminated. They were for a while but then stopped working. The power LED is lit though. Even when I restart I no longer get the flashing health light, etc. Also, I occassionally get bad health messages about CPU getting warm and low fan speeds. When I check in the console it shows the upper fan at 550rpm and the lower at 0rpm and CPU temp up around 60C. I verified that the lower fan is working and the back of the case is quite warm but not excessively hot. I've disassembled and reassembled several times to make sure I didn't forget to reconnect anything and even put the original 512MB memory stick back in. Any ideas what the problem might be? |

Quote: Successful 2gb upgrade using one stick of a 4gb kit. The kit he purchased contained 2 2gb sticks, he only used 1 stick. He never purchased a 4gb stick.

Remember, that ~3.2 GB of the 4 GB stick is actually used by the 32 bit WHS OS. |
