I started getting some error messages from the MSS when I try to open the remote console - it says something like "server exceeded number of allowed connections."

I investigated this a bit and found references to the proper way to end a connection when using a Windows machine, but I couldn't find anything about the proper way to end the connection on a Mac. Is there a proper way to close the connection?

ALWAYS log off (log out). If you just close the window you will quickly have too many windows open and be unable to get back in! From the remote console open the Start and then, at the bottom, choose "Log Off".

Stupid question, where do I find the 'Logoff/logout' option? I don't see it in the console.

It's on the Remote Desktop, not the Windows Home Server Console.

So if I mostly use the WHS Console, I don't have to worry about logging off correctly, right?

Correct. Only when using the Remote Desktop.
