I am runnning OSX 10.5, new MediaSmart Server 485 with the 2.5 upgrade. Plenty of empty disk space (over 1 Tb).

Finally was able to create a time machine backup disk large enough (500 Gbytes)

I am trying to hand copy some dirrectories by mounting the shared folders with the mediasmart server control panel.

But, I get many errors that prevent me from copying some folders:
'The operation could not be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items"

My best guess is that this is related to how deep the directory hierarchy goes.
Any workarounds?

THANKS!

Try to create the same user account on the MSS as you have on the Mac and use it when you mount shares. If this does not help you can use Terminal. Say if you mount Music share, the command would be as the following:
# sudo cp -fR /Data/MyCollection /Volumes/Music

afterwards enter your password (supposing you're in admin group) and everything should be copied.
