I was an early adopter to the HP storage server family with the media vault then the EX470 and now an EX485. Up to now, I have been a total PC user. We recently purchased a Macbook Pro for my wife and it has been working fine accessing the shares on the EX485. I have not installed the Mac client on her machine yet. I have a Mac Pro that should be arriving this week. I need to start backing up both of these machines. My question is what is the advantages/disadvantages of using the HP client along with Time Maching vs using SuperDuper etc? I don't necessarily care as much about being able to do a bare metal restore as I am about making the backup process as seemless and easy as possilble. Then being able to restore my data. Thx!

There is a comprehensive thread on SuperDuper here http://www.mediasmartserver.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=3576&start=0 and an equally comprehensive thread on time machine here http://www.mediasmartserver.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=3970

Reading those will answer your question.
