I just (today) got my EX485 and I have a question. I have a mixed house - vista, mac and xp. does the mss work with OSX tiger (10.4.xxxx)? has anybody used it that way? I'd like to have a single repository for all of the video, photos and music. will I have trouble accessing the data from the mac?

Welcome to the forums! The Mac backup feature requires 10.5 so you won't be able to use that, but you should have no issues accessing the network resources for storing and retrieving files.

Hit Command+K in the finder and type smb://server where server is your server name as the share name and you will be able to connect to the WHS. You can use SuperDuper for backups until HP releases the 48x addins for the 47x series.

I have a similar setup except for the mac portion since I run Leopard. Are you running a virtual environment on your mac? If you do I suggest not setting up your MSS the first time around from the virtual environment. I tried this approach and everything went well with the MSS install but the mac failed to boot the next day. I had to restore the OS from the disk and also data using time machine.

The shared folders on MSS are accessible from Finder. You can treat them like any other folder in your mac. At least this is what I see on my mac.
