What is HP MSS Client.dmg for? I was under the impression it was the same as the pc connector software but i installed the dmg file on my macbook pro. When i open it a horse shows up on the bar at the bottom and i get a mount error. I can access folder on my server but i can not access other features via the connector software. Does anyone have screenshots of the HP MSS Client.dmg application running?

If memory serves me correct its a client connector software for the MAC which requires OS X 10.4 or 10.5 or higher to install. How it actually intigrates and works I can not comment on as I have an older MAC which I have been able to access my server to exchange files. I also recall something in the original HP Documentation about creating a MAC Folder on the server but uncertain if its actually necessary or not.

Not really certain if this helps you or not but I thought I would make an attempt to answer your question as best as possible. If your running LION on your MAC it may be a mute issue as others have reported compatablility issues with WHS with LION which may or may not have been resolved.

It installs a preferences pane in System Preferences and a kext to support Time Machine backups. It does not work with OS X 10.7 and in my experience grew increasingly unreliable with later releases of OS X 10.6. I believe it exists solely for Time Machine support, although it might install Microsoft remote desktop. Not sure about that since that software has been installed on my various Macs for years and years. You access the regular WHS shares via SMB and support for that is built into OS X.

edit: I took a look once I got home and it does indeed contain an install package for the Microsoft Remote Desktop client. For what it's worth you can download a newer version of that software at no cost from Microsoft's web site: www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.a ... n&id=18140.
