Thank you for listening HP!

I have been following the thread on installing the upgrade "manually" and was thinking of going down that path, but this is truly the right way to go and one I'm more comfortable with. As for cost, I would be ready to pay a nominal fee, so as long as anything HP decides to charge remains reasonable, I'll probably feel it's worth it.

Way to go HP! What is says to me --> We care about being fair with our customers and understand that we're building a long term relationship.
:hp: :mss:

The timeframe is not a concern. And the method makes a lot of sense to me - way easier and more reliable than doing it manually. And there won't be concern about automatic updates breaking an unsupported manual upgrade.

I posted this on the blog post comments but here it is again.

Good move by HP but the Mediasmart is still not available in Australia at all.

I imported my EX475 over a year ago so I'm not sure how I would go about obtained the complete server image DVD’s through HP support in Australia.

Hopefully, some nice member can ISO them up for me if I have issues trying to obtain them from support.

Hopefully HP is still reading these threads and is aware that it is not just Europe that is interested in the MSS!

I've convinced at least 10 people to buy one.

They've all imported as there is no vendor in Australia that is selling a WHS server.

I am glad to hear of this. Right now I am focused on backing up my backups and Share Folders, so as soon as I have a plan I like for that I will be ready for the upgrade. Autumn sounds about right at the rate I am moving towards this decision now :D :hp:

Bravo HP, Bravo. :hp:

Now, considering that the OS on the MSS is on a different partition then the rest of the data, installing this image should be pretty straight forward I would think.

Any new yet on this? I'm getting my server ready in prep for this to be released. I'm just hoping this is still on track. Anyone hear what it might actually contain.

I like it, that said, I have already leveraged the resources provided by the MSS community and upgraded my ex470. I imagine if it is shipping and a small fee for the update I'll order it when it comes available but I am more than satisfied with the current performance of this unit.

What I'd really love to see as a pay for update is all of the Mediasmart bells, whistles, tools and assorted programs using Windows Home Server based on the Server 2008 code. Yum...

I also wait paitently for the release of the "official" update to the HP475
My HP475 stay unmodified until the DVD ships (I tried out the manual 2.5 update on a spare drive setup and liked what it did)
Things seem to have been very quiet around this release since the formal anouncment
Has anyone heard anything from HP about how near/far they are away from shipping and also how does one get on the list to have a disk shipped. I bought my HP475 second hand and am not registerd with HP

Regards

ern
