It's available from the iTunes store starting today, though the 2.5 software isn't yet released.

Spare a thought for us UK users, The 48X servers are not even available here. The silence from HP is deafening.
The next server I will be looking at will be the Acer or Tranquil.

The Tranquil with builtin DVD drive for ripping is excellent. To bad I can't get it in Canada. I have the EX470, the EX485 is still not available here, but I guess it will come since the 485 did.

I'm in Montreal and I have a 485 that I bought up here. Couldn't find a 487, mind you.

An EX485 plus a 1TB (or even 1.5TB) disk is probably less cost than an EX487 anyway! You really haven't lost a thing!

Got the new 2.5 update today. Went smoothly... except that I could not connect to the console (blank blue screen instead).

Had to shut off the server then start it up again. This worked. Now things appear to work great.

Now how do I update my MAC client ... hm.....

D.

There's a link with instructions on the main Welcome page of the HP tab in the Server console.

Yes thanks. Found the MAC update client. Had to go to the HP server from the MAC, UNinstall then REinstall.

Overall, things are pretty good with the update. Except for having to REBOOT the server entirely after the update, things are ok now. HP tech support in Canada was FAST and HELPFUL I might add. Walked me through each step to problem solve. Waited no more than 10 seconds to get a techie online.

Finally, thanks HP Canada. YOu were up to par on this one.

I installed the new software update to version 2.5 and also installed the iStream application to my wife's iPhone. However, I can connect to the server from the iPhone using WiFi but when I tried to use the 3G network, it failed to connect to the server. I've tried both internal and external domains and even the local and WAN IP addresses and failed. Anyone have insight on why this may be happening? I'd like to be able to access the files on the iPhone away from home. NOTE: I am able to connect remotely (at work) without any problems via web browser so my ISP shouldn't be blocking any ports.

Is there any other place or method we might employ to try and open a dialog with HP about the lack of support for the EX47* re: this upgrade? It seems like there are many of us who might be interested in this; maybe if we organized and combined our voices HP would be more likely to listen.

I know of no way to direct feedback to HP, they aren't responding to my emails. My personal suggestion would be to call HP support since there are no other ways.

E-mails to the CEO of HP get some attention... His e-mail address is around here somewhere. (Alex is too much of a gentleman to refer you there!)

Actually, too jaded to think that a CEO's email address gets read by anyone that has any authority. :D Though I recall either you or another member had a decent experience, perhaps an organized effort would get some attention.

I had excellent success personally and was, frankly, impressed with the follow-up. AND the situation was resolved fairly quickly. (It concerned HP initially pushing unwanted software --advertising software-- through the update tool used on the client.) I retired from a company with an outstanding record for handling customer complaints (and handled a number myself) but I have to say my experience with HP exceeded my (very high) expectations.

I stop short of recommending organized e-mail campaigns. I think we all get so much SPAM that we get immune things after a while and, when targeted with mass-mailings, executives tend to just ignore them. If an executive is willing to share his e-mail address we should respect him for that and not flood it unnecessarily.

Organize a snail-mail letter campaign that will get handled by the staff instead.
