For anyone with a 4 or 8 port USB enclosure on their 485/487, have you noticed any lag while streaming? How about multiple HD sources concurrently?

Turning on duplication this weekend after adding a 4-bay external enclosure, and just wanna be sure it can handle the throughput.

Thanks,
D

Most of my drives are in USb enclosures. As far as streaming, there is no noticeable difference between the USB and eSATA enclosures with my media players. Now there is a difference when transferring files. with the USB it's only around 300mbs throughput. with the eSATA it easily exceeds 550mbs throughput.

I've never noticed any kind of slow down when I see that a video is streaming from my 4bay usb external enclosure. only time i've ever noticed a fraction of a glitch is when i've first copied a video file to the WHS and then tried to play it right after. seems that during the duplication time you might get a glitch here or there but thats already been covered.

That's what I've seen too, especially if it's a particularly large file.
