I received my HP MediaSmart EX485 from Newegg yesterday. I turned it on and went through the initial configuration on my laptop computer. Everything went just fine but I'm concerned about the reported temperatures. While monitoring the CPU temperature, it varied between 44°C and 50°C. Is this acceptable?

I would like to install four 1.5TB hard disk drives (replacing the included 750GB hard disk drive) and upgrade the processor. Are there any issues with using four Seagate 7200.11 1.5TB hard disk drives and an Intel Celeron E3x00 processor to accomplish this?

Cheers from Claremore, OK! :)
Dave

The seagate 1.5TB drives actually come standard in the EX495.

As far as the processor goes, make sure it's a 65W model.

Not sure which CPUs are supported, but hopefully someone who has done the upgrade will chime in.

I would like to report I successfully upgraded my processor from the Intel Celeron 440 to an Intel Celeron E3400. I noticed the server responds much quicker in a Remote Desktop session.

Here's the information from the processor box if anyone else is interested in this processor.

Intel Celeron Processor E3400
Freq: 2.60 GHz
Intel VT
FSB 800 MHz
Socket LGA 775
Cache 1M
PCG 06
Prod Code: BX80571E3400
MM # : 905045
FPO/Batch # : 39148B200
S-spec SLGTZ

Cheers from Claremore, OK!
Dave
