I have a few questions that I can't find a clear answer to searching...

I think this 3.0 patch everyone is talking about is an upgrade to the HP interface on WHS and not a WHS OS upgrade at all.

So as such... All of the add-ons to the WHS OS that work with 3.0 should work with 2.X right?

I guess other then the desire to have the LATEST version... what is the big benefit of 2.x vs 3.x?

If everything is working now... and no huge new feature exists... why upgrade is my question....?

You are quite correct. This is an upgrade to the HP interface and the add-ins they provide like Twonky Media. The wiki that Alex wrote also details some of the benefits.

My guide covers some of the considerations of why you might want to upgrade or not.

I have an EX470 (with 2GB ram), and I'm sure as hell NOT upgrading. I don't think it is worth the risk, and I see no benefit. I don't use Twonky and I have no use for Media Collector or Video Converter. I use my server for backups, file sharing (photos, music, videos etc, accessed using HTPCs), streaming music to my AV receiver (using Asset uPNP), and remote access to my desktop when traveling. Reading all the stories here, I don't want to lose my backup database and I depend too much on my server being operational to risk it for some minor interface improvements.

I have placed an order for the disks.
I also have space to backup everything on the server so I may just do it for something to do.

But I totally agree... it isn't worth it... overall.. and I am far more interested in the new version in 2011 to the WHS OS.
