Has anyone managed to get the Intel VT extensions enabled on their EX487 as yet...?

Just upgraded my 487 to an E6300 but cannot get the VT Extensions to be seen by Windows....it's driving me nuts....!

Upgraded to E5200, then realised it didnt have VT, Oops. Should have done my research a lil' more thouroughly! So, then went and bought the 6300, according to Intel is DOES have VT-x

Have checked the BIOS, using AMI BIOS Tools (AMIBCP And AMIFLASH, as i dont have KVM Cable) and all looks OK, VT is on. Even used VMware's CPU identification/testing tool (for compatibilty) and it passes that test, but when i try and fire up a 64Bit VM on VirtualBox (which DOES support 64Bit VMs on a 32Bit host) I get an error telling me that i cant run the VM as have no VT-x!!!!

CPU-z fails to spot it too....only have MMS, EM64T, SSE 1 2 3 & 3s nothing else..... Wheres my VT-x!!!!!

Anyone else had any luck doing this...?

thanks

Dongers

Dongers, I've upgraded my Ex485 to an E6500 2.9GHz and have found the same problem. I'm thinking of buying the KVM breakout cable so I can actually look at the BIOS settings because I want to run ESXi. I suspect that the G31/G33 chipset may not support the VTx extensions. If this is the case then I may very well replace my MSS with a custom built ESXi box.

If I find anything new I'll let you know.

Ty
