Hello,

A while back, I replaced the Seagate 750GB system disk that came with the system with a WD 750GB I purchased. The Seagate was noisy and acted like it was failing -- things were taking forever (I've since run the Seatools on it with no errors-to-date, but Home Server SMART was showing me lots of Reallocated Sectors, showing 'yellow'.)

Anyhow, I did a Server Restore with the HP Restore disc to the WD 750GB. All worked fine, updates downloaded and Power Pack up to 3. No problems.

However, in the Server Storage display, it shows up with the original drive's model name -- ST3750630AS -- instead of the new drive's model -- WDC WD7500AADS-00L5B1.

Its not a huge deal, but I would like it to be correct.

Anyone seen this and/or know the 'fix' for it? (I tried to search, but I didn't find anything related to this -- my search skills may be lacking... choosing the right words and such.)

Thanks,

Brad

SOMEWHERE around here I have seen the problem and a solution. A couple quick searches did not turn it up (I had not bookmarked that one) but you might keep looking. Or someone else may have the link...

well, I did find this but it doesn't seem to work for me. I'll keep looking, but if anyone has an answer, I'd appreciate it!

well, nevermind ... that DID work for me. I'd done it the night before, did a reboot and no change.

I did it today, did a reboot, and the change shows up.

Funny things these computers ...

The reason I'm doing this is because I'm putting the original 750gb back into the storage pool ... to exercise it a bit and see if I can make it fail before the HP warranty runs out :)

Before you put that original disk back in the pool be sure to repartition it to a single partition and format it for NTFS. WHS does NOT like seeing a second System Disk in the mix.
