Hey everyone,

Just got my first drive to add to my EX485. I purchased a 2TB WD WD20EADS. I pulled the tray out and noticed that none of my trays have four bolts on the sides. Only two. I purchased a refurbished unit so I'm not sure if this is why. The issue I had is that the drive would *not* click in with the two bolts connected. I had to remove the two bolts and just put the drive in bare on the tray for it to click in and work.

Has this happened to anyone? I wouldn't think missing the two bolts would make such a difference but could it?

Appreciate some feedback.

thanks!

I have a ex470 but I think all HP MSS trays are the same and they have no bolts. They have the tooless plastic nubs that fit into the sides of the drives where the bolts would normally go. There is no place for the bolts.

I should have clarified, I meant the plastic nubs not the regular hard drive bolts.

Try taking the two and placing them in the REAR positions, one on each side.

And make a warranty claim on the unit.
