OK, weird issue that I can deal with.

I set the 8080 port in my router, and all of a sudden the XXXX.homeserver.com:8080/gui/ URL started asking for a password. I tried every password I've got set on the server, but none worked.

Then I decided on a whim to try my router password, and voila! I have no idea why it's asking for the router password, but I can live with this.

Thanks a ton for all your work and help.

Hi all! It's my first post so please be gentle

Thank you for the guide, I have managed to set up everything properly and able to add torrents to it at work :mss:

However I ran into a problem, possibly not specific to uTorrent. After I'm done downloading files and have it saved to the destination folder, I cannot make any changes to it. I will have access to it and be able to read it. But I cannot move, delete, or make any changes to the files at all. I would run into File Access Denied, sayign I need permission from Administrators to make changes to this file.

I can, however, login to my MSS through Remote Desktop and then make changes from there. I have also tried to create a file with MSS in shared folder and try deleting it on my client. And the same problem would occur.

I have given myself the User full rights to the folder in question.

Does anyone have any idea what's going on?

Hi me again, I made some additional experiments to it and tried to create a file in my other shared folders. Apparently my client would have access to modify or delete the file IF it wasn't created within the folder where my completed download resides.

IF the file was created or moved into the folder that was created when my download completed, my client would not have access to modify it.

Any idea?

Sounds like uTorrent is possibly still holding onto the file, until you remove the file from uTorrent (which is trying to share it out) you probably won't be able to move it.

Hey Alex

That's what I thought too. I tried to stop the torrent on the web interface but that didn't work. I had to move the whole folder to another shared folder location by logging into the WHS before I can make modifications to any file in the folder on my client.

Are you creating the shares via the Server Console? If not, there may be permissions issues.

Yes, the destination folder for my completed downloads is created in the Server Console. I have given the User Account my desktop is on full access to that folder.

I'm going to try to delete the folder and create it again to see if that does anything.

Once I upgrade my ram and CPU, this will be one of my first mods.

Is it possible to run PeerGuardian 2, or some other ip blocklist?

Thanks,
Rob

Hi all,

The folders are working again. I have been careful and make sure I have stopped the torrent before I make any changes to it. It's been working so far.

However, got a new question. I followed the guide and has added the uTorrent icon/link to my mediasmart homepage. While I can click that icon and access my uTorrent webui at home, I get this invalid webpage error when I try to access it at work.

Does anyone know if there's any fix to it?

Thank you in advance

Just one thing to point out is that instead of using the Administrator account to run the uTorrent services I created a new custom user, which has slightly less privileges to make it more secure to run the service.

Rhythm, It could be that your work blocks port 8080. My work does and the only port I found that I could use was the SSH port 22. Firefox, Safari, and Chrome will not allow you to use port 22 but IE does. Trying to find another port as I would like to use 22 to ssh into my Linux box.

my only problem is that when i go to //servername:8080/gui it works fine

but when i go to http://servername.homeserver.com:8080/gui it says "Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at servername.homeserver.com:8080."

however the normal http://servername.homeserver.com works fine and forwards me to https://servername.homeserver.com/HPHome/
