Hi,

I have a EX485 with a dead system drive and 3 sound data drives. I have read and re-read the recovery info but I still don't quite understand the steps for my situation.

I tested each drive and all of them spin up and CHKDSK fine except the system drive. I purchased a new replacement drive for the system and I have my Recovery CDs.

What next? Mount the new drive alone and create a new server instance?
Then What? Shut it down mount the three drives and pray?

Has anyone any advice on this process? I would love to recover the data (my backups and music.

Any and all advice will be welcome.

M

first question is what drive did you get?

Thanks Ruben,

Thankfully (I think) I picked up a 1TB WD Blue and everything (so far) has recovered perfectly. I am just now performing the updates and checking the results. This machine has been down for a few months, but I think I actually got it back for just the price of the drive and the help of this forum.

I followed Comp1962 viewtopic.php?t=11504#p97942

Question: Aside from the system drive. Does the drive order matter for 2-4? I think I have them back in their original order. I am seeing a Backup DB Error right now. (Still need to run Updates on the System though.)

Ruben,

Thanks, I picked up a WD Blue 1TB drive.

The restore and recovery were very promising. I was able to get the server back up and running.

After the reboot I saw I had 2TB of data on the drives.

Sadly though, I ran the Backup "Recovery" wizard and it deleted all of my backups. Now I have no backups and 4TB free space.

At this point I have a functioning Server and no backup history. You could say I am a bit bummed.
