My 485 died. constant turn on turn off. I bought a new power supply, put it in and it booted up once with all drives blue. Then I think i turned it off and it will not boot again. It just has a blinking health light. No drive lights.

So I want to get my pictures off the drive. I see them on the main drive but when I hook up the drive to a windows 7 machine it says I do not have permission to see the files.

I can see the files on the Mac and can moved them through the MAc to the Windows 7 machine HDD. They are there but they will not open. sometimes they show a lock on the file.

I am so frustrated. Its been months of frustration.

I took the drive to Geek squad and paid $100 to unlock the files and tonight I looked and all I have is empty folders, no pictures.

I really could use some help.
1) how to get the pictures and files off the server hard drives so they are viewable.
2) any chance of fixing the server. Not really interested in paying geek squad $200. would rather spend the dollars on a new server like synology or HP or ?

Thank you. Appreciate all the information here in this forum. I have been a lurker for years.
I am located in Saratoga CA in Silicon Valley by San Jose CA.
