Hi All,

Can anyone point me to a step by step tutorial for doing a clean install on a WHS EX485 (something basic enough for a relative newbie)? I looked through the forum posts but didn't see anything.

Thanks!

Aaron

Okay, I've got a fresh install up and running. The install disk I have is version 3.0.6. When I try to update through the settings > MediaSmart Server > Update tab, I get an error saying "cannot connect to HP MediaSmart Server at this time". Is that because they've discontinued the product? If so, is there a manual way to update to the most recent version of the software?

Did you make any changes? Is the Windows Update able to complete successfully? Have you checked your versions against the list in the Wiki on this site?

Not sure what changed, but I was able to update the version. It is now 3.3.1.... but now I'm having another issue. After the updates were installed, I started getting an error message stating that "the version of software on "PC Name" is not compatible with the server. Please uninstall the client software and reinstall it from the server."

I then uninstalled the "WHS Connector" and "HP Media Smart Server" applications, then went into my "Software > Home Server Connector Software" folder in the server and ran the setup.exe file, but I still get the same error on the WHS after doing so. Any idea why that might be? I noticed that, despite the error message indicating the software is not compatible, it appears that the server still backed up both of the computers in my home last night.

Try rebooting both server and client, I seem to recall some error messages persisting.
