A few days ago I started a thread about adding a 2nd EX485 to my system. Unfortunately, that deal didn't work out, so I'm back to square one. My question now is: should I go with a used (no warranty) MediaSmart EX485 or 495, or instead go with a new & fully-warrantied StorageWorks X310?

The prices for each are in the same $350 neighborhood, so I don't know which would be best for me. (?) I'd appreciate any opinions from those around here with more knowledge about this than I have. (and quickly if possible, as there's a NewEgg rebate offer on the StorageWorks X310 that ends tomorrow/Saturday).

Thanks in advance for a quick reply!

If you don't need the media features or horsepower of the EX49x, the X310 should be fine. I personally wouldn't go for the EX48x unless you get a great deal.

Thanks for the response! I'm mainly going to be using the 2nd server for my unattended Macrium Reflect backup files, so I don't need a tremendous amount of horsepower. Based on that, I think I'll go for the new/warrantied StorageWorks X310 instead of a used EX unit that could crap out at any moment.
