I AM TOTALLY FRUSTRATED WITH HP! Why would they make the v3.0 software only available for a limited time! I never even heard about this until they had discontinued them. Why is it they are not making them available on the website as a download?
Could anyone please send me a copy of their version 3.0 disks? (3 disks) ?
Trying to learn how to use torrents is now causing me a lot of grief! I don't care about copywrite laws - HP is inexcusable in not making these available! I paid good money for two of these EX485 machines!
Someone please tell me where I can download the disk?
I am willing to PAY for copies!
Please HELP!

I can understand the frustration about not being able to get the upgrade but on the other hand I do not view the upgrade as all that great. Yes it looks cool an all but it came with issues that took sometime to work out and not by HP but by others.

Can I ask you what you feel the 3.0 will do for you that you can not do now with your current HP Software. There are alternatives to what the 3.0 offers? Maybe I might be able to point you to a better solution than getting the 3.0 which I feel you might find not worth the time and effort to search for.

Thanks for your reply. I had read somewhere that v3.0 software could be downloaded using Bittorrent - and I have zero understanding of downloading torrents! I ran into all sorts of torrent sites that would act like all you had to do was register and then after registering they wanted a credit card! I spent all day yesterday looking for v3.0 disks and by the time I wrote my post I was really frustrated!
I run a mixed environment with Macs and PCs and some of the PCs are running Windows 7. I had read that the the v3.0 software had better support for Macs and that only v3.0 supported Windows 7 PCs.
Anyhow - if I don't find v3.0 - at least hearing from you that you like v2.5 - makes me feel a little better - so thank you!

First Win7 compatability improvements should already be installed on your server if it has all the Microsoft Updates. HP did release an update for the 2.5 software on your EX485 to improve MAC Compatability with Time Machine Backups.

Here is the 2.5 update: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/soft ... 8&sw_lang=

Unfortunately if your running LION that compatability was broken but it has more to do with some security enhansements Apple incorporated into LION. This is not my area of expertise but if your running LION then read the link below:

viewtopic.php?p=85048#p85048

Please note that even if you had the 3.0 it would not correct the issues others are experiencing with LION. Also I am not certain what if any improvements the 3.0 has over the 2.5 interms of MAC Compatability. You may also want to explore the options of running WHS2011 to see if it may provide better MAC Compatability as well.

Thank you very much for all your help!
I can't run Lion on my Macs :-(
Mine are 2006 Macbooks with 32bit firmware (64-bit Kernel and Extensions: No).
So as of now Lion will not run on my Macbooks - somewhere I read that they may be supported in the future.
Thanks again!

The other thing too as I recall you need to be running like OS X 10.5 or higher to install the Mac Component.
