Hi,

Looking to add a new drive to my HP Mediasmart EX485. Does anyone know if it supports 6.0 Gb/s SATA drives?

Thanks!

The MSS supports SATA2 3.0Gb/s but the SATA3 6.0Gb/s standard is backwards compatible, so newer drives should work fine but will run at the lower SATA2 speed.

wow, thanks.

So I can buy a 6.0gb/s drive just to future-proof myself and it will just run at 3.0gb/s in my EX485?

Can any drive even take advantage of 3gb/s?
