Had a quick search but couldn't find my specific enquiry.

I have set up Remote Access using a Windows Live domain & all seems well while the server is awake. If the server is asleep however, Remote Access fails as no WOL appears to be sent.

My router (Billion 7800n) can do this but I really don't want to give all remote users access to that!

Is there an easy way to wake the server when it receives a request for Remote Access from the Internet?

What your talking about is called WoW (Wake on Wan) as oposed to WOL (Wake on Lan).
Though they use exactly the same tools they have slightly different requirements.
You will need to have a static outside IP address, or a Dynamic DNS account setup so you can get to your network via an ip.
On your router you will need to forward port 9, to your server.
And on your system you are trying to use to wake up your server you will need the WOL tool.
I have played with this many times and have not gotten it to work well, and use other methods to wake my servers.

When you send the magic packet you direct it at your router which should forward it to your server.
Port 9 must pass TCP and UDP traffic for it to work.

I hope this helps you.
