Using iStream with MSS 2.5.

Converted videos all freeze on iPhone 3g after 20 minutes of play. This occurs on two different iPhones.

Reinstalled iStream. No help.

Any ideas. Anybody else having this problem?

Music and photos stream without problems.

Any iPhone 3g users had this problem.

No doubt a simple preference choice. Needless to say, I have not found it.

Is it possibly a network issue (meaning, could AT&T be killing the stream after 20 min)? If it keeps streaming for more than 20 minutes via Wifi I would suspect a network provider issue.

Aloha Alex,

The freezes occur on both 3g and wifi.

It appears that the iStream software for the iPhone 3g is the guilty party.

Can't believe thast I am the only one with this problem.

Many mahalos for this website and your participation

Interesting, are you able to test against another server? (If not, send me a PM and I'll give you access to mine)

Thanks for all your help Alex.

Had a long discussion with HP Tech Support.

They had had no similar complaints.

The final determination was that I should use the 3G network to stream the videos rather than my WiFi network.

Tried their advise with both yours and my network. Initially, 3G seemed to work without periodic stops and freezes.

But alas, it was not meant to be. No matter what the network (3G or WiFi), particular network (yours or mine) the results are the same. Freezes and stops.

I continue to suspect the iPhone iStream software.

Will continue the search for an answer.

I also have this problem via WiFi on my iPod Touch 2nd Gen.

I cannot stream mp4 movies converted by my MSS for more than 20-30 minutes without having it freeze and stop.

Also, I get alot of "This video format cannot be played" or "This Video Cannot Be Played" errors as well, but I know that the format is acceptable.

This happens both on my local network and remote networks.

How did you know that? Have you tried to download video file converted with MSS Video Converter onto the iPod and to play it?

Yes, I can download it via the itunes app and it will play via the iPod video player. It will also play via the HP Media Streamer using IE 8.

I can get the movie to play, but I have to retry to load the movie several times. Sometimes it will load first try, and then other times it will not load and give one of the two error messages.

If it does start to play, then about 20-30 minutes in, it will stop. Sometimes I can just start it right where it left off, other times I'm screwed and it's rinse and repeat trying to get the movie to play.

I've tried long movies, short movies, shows, and clips. It seems to experience the biggest problems with longer movies.

I've figured out similar behavior and tried to investigate it. I don't know what's going on with the iStream at that moment, but I've found many Media Converter and Mobile Streamer errors in the Event Log on the server. It seems that either converting "on-the-fly" failed or something failed in the tunnel Converter->Streamer, because even after iStream relaunch I could not play video - the only server reboot helped.
