My EX485 comes with an application called "Media Sharing" (or Media Library Sharing). In "Settings" and "Media Sharing" on the EX485 I have enabled sharing of Photos, Videos, and Music.

I recently purchased a Samsung BD-C6500 BluRay player which DLNA compatible. With the BD-C6500 on my network I can see the "Media Sharing" DLNA server on my EX485. From the BD-C6500 I can browse to "Photos" and then have a "Folders" option. That shows all of the top level folders that I have created in the "Photo" directory of my EX485 (e.g., "Vacations", "Holidays", "Birthdays", etc). Clicking on any of those top level folders shows the subfolders. Clicking on a subfolder shows the file names of the pictures that are in that folder. So far so good...

However, when I click on any picture (again, this is from my BD-C6500 attached to my TV) I get an "unsupported file format" message. The files are standard ".jpg" files downloaded from a digital camera. Note that this also happens with the videos. I can browse to the videos on the BD-C6500 and see that they are there, but when I try to view one I get the same "unsupported file format" error.

Any thoughts on this? I know that the photos and videos are ok because I can view them just fine on my PC. Would really like to be able to view them on my TV via the BD-C6500. Is it that "Media Sharing" on the EX485 is not truly DLNA compatible. Close enough that my BD-C6500 can see the files and browse the file trees, but somehow can't display the files?

Thanks

Just bringing this question to the top since I also have this issue though with the BD-P3600.

Don't know if this will help, but, doing this on my TV I get (2) different devices that come from the server.
One will get what you do, unsupported file format.
One will work just fine.

It's almost like the server is putting out 2 different things, one is like the codex or program on the server is not working with and the other it is.
I know it bugs the heck out of me to see the other one and know it won't work.

This has happened on my 470 and now my 510. goodluck. If anybody knows more or how to get rid of the one that does not work, shout out.

I have experienced the same thing.
I have a Samsung 3D Led TV with an Ethernet jack on the back and the DNLA is so wonky.
I honestly gave up after a few hours if screwing with it. it almost seemed random what played and what didn't.
Also the navigation was quite cumbersome in a large collection.

I have inexpensive small HTPC's for every TV in the house. I preferred that route instead of dealing with digital rights and specific codecs.
I just run XBMC mapped to a share on my WHS. Now i can play anything I throw at the tv and not worry about it.

There are also dozens of other solutions out there including set-top devices like popcorn hour.

Guardians post did intrigue me to try it again. Who knows this time?
