Can't wait to read it. I may be getting a 101 if it can handle the high-bitrate stuff. Can't beat that price.

The 301 was here yesterday but no one was here to sign for :(. There will redeliver today but I have a feeling the same thing will happen, so I will most likely have to go to UPS after work on Thursday to pick up. Supposedly they finally nailed down BD Lite (I know not an issue for you since you are an mkv guy). Shouldn't take me long to test and get a review up

I just noticed in the images of the HD Max it seems to have 7.1 analog audio outputs, but I can't see that mentioned anywhere in the specs. Strange.

The other problem of course is the its $600!

If you can find a retailer that still has Base or Prime 3.0 units then you can get those as they both have 5.1 analog outputs.

Thanks Killroy, you're everywhere :)

Does the base 3.0 do the 7.1 decode to LCPM via HDMI also?

What's the main difference between the Base 3.0 and the Smart series?

I am like a bad penny...I show up everywhere.

THe Base/Prime is an older unit with a different Sigma chip and a more STB size and look. It also has 5.1 analog instead of 7.1.

Other than that and some minor hardware difference they work pretty much the same due to the same software. Go to the HDi website and you can see the actual specs but other than the form factor and some minor things like 5.1/7.1 analog outputs there is not much difference.

Yes, the Base/Prime decodes 7.1 to LPCM via HDMI with no issues.
