Has anybody else experienced issues with their HTPC going to sleep when MediaBrowser is running? I'll finish watching a movie, and even if I back all the way out to the 7MC Start screen, the HTPC won't sleep. If I restart 7MC and don't enter MediaBrowser, it seems to sleep just fine. Is this an issue with something being active in 7MC or with MediaBrowser, or... ?

I can test it, but don't know for sure.

I force a sleep with a remote when we are done watching.

Doesn't go to sleep when you are in or exit Media Browser and then walk away.

Does allow a forced sleep.

It DOES go to sleep if you are in Media Browser then exit Media Browser go to Recorded TV and start a show then stop the show and THEN walk away.

That explains why it will sleep when forced by powering off via my Harmony remote, but after it wakes up from WHS backup it won't go back to sleep. Frustrating! Thanks for checking. :mss:

A to the K,

Maybe try this Standby helper to see if this fixes your prob. Let me know if it works (I have never tried it):

Reviving an old thread as I have the same issue, although not on an Acer.

I see a suggestion was to start some recorded TV, but I don't have a TV Tuner installed (waiting on an HDHomeRun Prime). I've tried doing this with playing some music from the MSS, but that does not work. Playing Netflix also does not work. Have not yet tried playing a local music file or home vid - everything's on the MSS).

Has anyone found an automated solution to this that also gets the PC to sleep after it gets woken up for the backup? I'm looking for something automated as I'll have trouble getting the wife & kids to go through any manual process.

Thanks,
Blair

My Revo now sleeps, changes I made include updating Media Browser, turning off "Wake on pattern match" in the network driver settings, turning off Picture Slideshow in WMC, and various driver updates. I'm not sure what made the difference, to be honest.

I also have a home-built HTPC that still doesn't sleep even though I've done the same changes to it. It's just goofy, wish this was easier to figure out. :(

Thanks Alex, turning off Picture Slide Show did the trick.

Hmm well that's a bummer to hear as we use the slideshow a lot on the upstairs HTPC since it's on the TV in the living room, but makes sense since that's one of the main differences between my two HTPC's setup.

Just to be clear, what I did to solve the issue was to disable the Picture Slideshow as a screensaver. I still love to us "Play Pictures" when listening to music.

Yeah, that's what seems to have fixed it for me as well, downstairs. We like the auto slideshow so I've left it on upstairs for now.
