Hi, hope someone might be able to help with this...I've done some research on the forums and have found some good info on installing iTunes on a Media Smart Server. I've been able to install iTunes as well as the virtual audio cable to solve for the fact the server has no audio hardware but I continue to get the " iTunes had detected a Audio Configuration Error" message. I've checked to make sure I am loging onto the Server using the Remote Desktop Connection specifying to use the remote computers audio. There is a troubleshooting step that mentions going to Start > Control Panel > Quick Time > Audio Tab > Select "Direct Sound" > Apply settings and close > Try iTunes again on the server to try and resolve the problem but I don't believe quicktime was installed since it was not bundled with 10.5. I would appreciate any input from someone who has been able to get this running. Thanks. I'm using a Windows 7 machine and a HP Mediasmart EX495 Server running windows home server 1. Thanks.

I have been looking at using iHomeServer to run iTunes on my MSS v1. Seems to address most of the problems with running it on a server. http://blog.bizmodeller.com/post/2011/09/04/Using-iTunes-on-a-Server-without-a-Sound-card.aspx

Have been using iHomeServer for the past couple of months and it does what it says on the tin ... Starts iTunes when the computer boots and keeps it running even if it crashes. If iTunes puts up any warning messages about audio/video config or the like, iHomeServer intercepts those messages and dismisses them.... works for me!

Gareth,

Can you tell me what version of MSS and itunes you have. I just want to see if iHomeSever will work for me.

Thanks.
Tom

PS. If anyone else has it working or if not has experienced issues, I would love to hear.
