Welcome to the forums. So far, I have not seen anything to indicate that Apple has modified iTunes 9 to solve the issues with installing on Windows Server 2003 but it's possible I missed something as I do not run iTunes on the server. Rather I run it on each client PC and then have all music and libraries on the server and point each client PC at the libraries on the server.

Thanks on both counts. Would you please add the link to your earlier post describing your approach? I remember seeing it, but I've viewed too many pages at this point.

Kind regards,

Jason - I used the method described in this thead. viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2319&start=0

Basically, you copy your entire iTunes music library in the exact same structure on your PC to the MSS in the Music Share. Then for each client PC on your network, you point iTunes (using the suggestions in the 2nd post IIRC) to that location for the libraries and music.

I followed the very simple Crunch Gear instructions and now have iTunes 9.1 running on my EX495.

I did get the no speakers error message at itunes launch.

If you want to avoid the "iTunes has detected a problem with your audio configuration. Audio/Video playback may not operate properly" message when you start up iTunes you can either install a virtual sound card, or alternatively install a product I found called iHomeServer. It runs iTunes as a service in the background on WHS and transparently handles these types of messages so that iTunes starts automatically when the server starts - even if there are warning messages such as these.

There's an interesting blog article about how it does it here - http://blog.bizmodeller.com/post/2011/0 ... -card.aspx

And you can download a trial of iHomeServer here - http://www.bizmodeller.com/iHomeServer_for_iTunes.aspx

Gareth (or anyone else that may see this post),

Do you have to use Remote Access to log into the MediaSmart server to install iTunes? Or can I just logon as Administrator and follow the steps outlined in the various posts about this. I am not that techy but willing to try anything I understand. But some of the post refer to logging in via Remote Desktop Protocol and I am not even sure what that is.

Anyway, I may need some patience from whoever gets back to may since I don't know all the tech lingo out there.

Thanks
Tom

Here's our guide on using Remote Desktop to access your WHS: http://www.mediasmartserver.net/wiki/in ... te_Desktop

Thanks Alex. I had seen that somewhere before but at the time did not know why I would need it.
