I like it because compusa is local for me, and nothing beats instant gratification. Any experiences?

It looks the same as most other IRs so you shouldn't have any problems (that exact remote came with my Hauppauge TV Tuner card). You are just using the IR to pair up with your 880, correct? The reason I ask is because the MCE remote does not work 100% out of the box with XBMC (unless XBMC has made any changes to this), so you need to use a program like event ghost to program all the buttons. If you are just using the 880 then it should be as easy as setting up with the Logitech interface.

Yes, im going to pair it with the 880 unit. i did find a good site on lirc (http://lircconfig.commandir.com/lircd.conf/) that has different remotes and their corresponding lirc config files.

Thanks for all your help! you have been a wealth of media center knowledge!

Glad to be of help. I am definitely watching very closely how your experience goes with the Ion Platform. Aside from my 2 HTPCs I have a couple media players that I have been having issues with handling the HD Audio in my HD mkvs/ts. I am having to remux in an AC3 track to get sound (I shoudl have a post up either today or tomorrow on my blog about this), so just another reason why I prefer HTPCs....

the reason i got this motherboard, i had to convert 1080p movies from mkv to m2ts and mash down the audio so the ps3 could read it. Saw the nvidia reference pc and fell in love, too bad nvidia couldnt make good on their system they demoed. So far very happy with the system, its not a powerhouse, its a 30 watt pc with a killer video card on it. Cant wait for the case tonight, will post pictures tomorrow.

The bluetooth fiasco im currently undergoing is driving me mad. I picked up a 1 year old Trendnet bluetooth adapter from my uncle a few days ago. Paired my girlfriends dell wireless keyboard and mouse to the unit, works great. However when grub loads... no keyboard. That is a huge draw back, and im not done yet. Both OS are independent of each other when it comes to pairing. I will pair the key/mouse combo in linux, boot into windows 7, pair. Reboot into linux and the keyboard and mouse are no longer paired. pair them, reboot into windows 7, and they are unpaired. Currently looking into a Cirago bluetooth adapter with a CSR chip set. Apparently in 2003 CSR came out with a boot time HID support (BlueICE http://www.embeddedstar.com/press/conte ... d9974.html). Trying to call support now to verify this will work. Tomorrow, new bluetooth adapter and IR remote time.

FOUND A KEYBOARD! http://www.compusa.com/applications/sea ... VIEWS#tabs

Reviews say it works when the PC boots, and cost the same as the bluetooth module i was going to buy.

klamath, can you check BIOS and see if there is a possibility to boot from miniPCIe?

I'm thinking of getting one of those mobo and remove the WiFi card in miniPCIe slot and replace that with a SSD drive.
Yes, SSD for miniPCIe is for real. Used in Asus EEE PC netbooks for example.
I have found 8GB, 16GB, 32GB and 64GB miniPCIe SSD on eBay.

On the Zotac website, it does not work :( BIOS does not support PCI-E storage.

Hopefully this link will work (I log in as subscriber)

http://www.zotacusa.com/zotac-ionitx-d-e-atom-n330-1-6ghz-dual-core-mini-itx-intel-motherboard.html
mentions nothing about the power brick mentioned in the CPU article though.

Product manual here:
http://www.zotacusa.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=1380

This really looks like a winner of a mobo for a home theater setup. HDMI. 1080P. 6 channel audio. 4 3Gps SATA and one E-SATA, 1Gb networking. N wireless. Kitchen sink. They are all there.

Donno if there is enough power on the 90Watt brick to power a hard drive and DVD-Rom drive. Otherwise, a small case with power supply would do.

As the CPU article says, do not expect to play PC games on the TV unless they are older games with low specs.

This definitely has the making for the ideal HTPC. Only real thing lacking is DVR I guess.

Dang, I really do NOT need another PC. I really don't. I really... Please, can somebody talk me into this? PLEEEASSSEE?

"Smee, don't try to stop me. Smee, DO NOT try to stop me! SMEE, STOP ME SMEE!"

So far i purchased the following items.

http://www.mini-box.com/M350-universal- ... -enclosure

-Fantastic case, very heavy, so very very small. Great construction, has jumpers in the front so you can set the on button to "always on" which will override the bios. Also has two front mounted usb ports for wifi, bluetooth.

http://www.compusa.com/applications/Sea ... CatId=1482

-compusa is local for me, yeah! Anyways, had a huge issue with dual booting and entering the BIOS with my dell bluetooth keyboard. Lookup HID proxy support and you will see the limitations of most bluetooth modules and boot time performance. This keyboard and mouse set cost $49 and has great range. As cheep as it looks, it does work quite well.

http://www.compusa.com/applications/sea ... eviewStart

--works great, programed my harmony 880 remote. Works with XBMC (LIRC) great.

Now a few things:

XBMC works like a champ on here, haven't had too many issues once it is all setup. Windows 7 works great too, choppy with some movies still have to track down the problem but i dont really care about wmc at this point. Xbmc i have grown to love with how configurable it all is. Windows 7 will play Sims 3 set to medium @ 1280x800 without any issue.

The ION does much better with dual channel ram, much much better. Buy two sticks, its well worth it.

The Zotac rev 1a boards have 5v to USB ports so you can wake the system up from standby via keyboard or IR port.

This is the future gentlemen, a 30w 7"x7" PC that will play 1080P movies and games.

Sounds great, should start seeing some exciting products based off the Ion platform come out. For XBMC are you running it under Linux or MCE?
