Heya, i have the following Spec server :

AMD Athlon X4 635 @ 2.9Ghz

Asus Crosshair Formula 3

4GB PNY 1333Mhz RAM

60GB OCZ Vertex Plus R2

4TB of Raid 0 of 4 * 2TB WD Green

Basically my hardware causes shuttering of transcoding 1080p MKV to my xbox over a gigabit network.

need advice on the best on the fly transcoding method, or a transcoder that encodes when videos added to a folder,

and also i have a hackintosh if there is OSX software that works better.

Thanks in advance

You only mention this issue with the XBOX but does this also happen if you stream to another device. While I am not up to speed on XBOX I believe but am uncertain its network port is 10/100 and that would have some impact on streaming certain media. For example I have 2 versions of the WDLive Media Extenders one with an 10/100 and the other with a gigabit. While both stream well the one with a 10/100 has difficulty when streaming the Larger Blu-Ray MKV's while the newer on does not and I am wondering if this is what your experiencing. Only way to know for sure is to test the stream with other devices to see if you get similar results.
