Hi Guys,
I am new in this forum and this is my first post, anyhow I want to replace my HDX-1000 streamer with a new one. The 2 final candidates are OPPO-93 & DUNE HD MAX.
For now I don't have any blu-ray discs, all my content are in mkv files for movies and flac files for music which are stored on hard drive.
I mainly need that the device will support DTS-HD, DTS-HD-MASTER audio over mkv files and I think that both of them support it, am I right?
I know that the OPPO does not support Jukebox so the question is will it be worth to skip Jukebox support but to get better image & sound quality?
I really need you wise advice in order to choose.

Thanks.

I have never owned an OPPO, so I am only speaking from what others have said. The opinion I have seen is that the OPPO is the superior player when it comes to Disc Playback. If you are bitstreaming HD Audio there will be zero difference in audio quality. I believe the OPPO has source direct for video (which may be important if you have a video processor that you output your video to before it gets to the screen).

My personal opinion, if you are looking to play back locally stored files then I would rather go with a player that has its main strength as this (i.e. Dune) versus a player where locally stored file playback is secondary.

You can also try asking in the AVSForum (the Dune Smart thread would be a good place) to get more feedback as there are Oppo current/past owners there.

Hi,

Just to update I purchased the DUNE HD MAX.
It's very easy to configure and it can play everything!!
I inserted 3.5" hard disk which was inside my old HDX-1000, I can play all movies from this HD without any issue.
In addition I am using Zappiti as Jukebox - works very well.

Thanks,
Shmulik.
