Hello all, building a HTPC and got to the point I need to order internal Hard Drives. Im limited to only 3 drives I can stick on my mother board and was asking the question is 3 x 2T better than 3 x 1T for search for my data??...I know that it would take longer to search a 2T drive but I already have over 1T of media that I want to put on it. Please look at my Sig for HTPC details...Thanx

The capacity of the drive shouldn't affect performance. Things that will affect performance are things like drive speed, RAID configuration, and filesystem type. I would just get the biggest fastest drives you can that are within your budget. If you are concerned about search performance, use something that indexes your drive to search. Linux's locate command uses an index for quick searches. Windows search has a similar feature if you enable indexing.
