Hello all, I have been having problems with ripped video dvd's. I use Anydvd to rip to the harddrive, then convert to mpg for placement on the server because of the size,
Problem is, some, not all, but some of the mpg start out fine then about 1/3 of the way into the movie the sound gets out of syn.
I am playing these mpg on my client using WMP right from the share.

I have tried 2-3 different software for converting and upgraded all my hardware (PC).

What am I doing wrong? Or is there a software convertor that is bullet proof and works everytime? I really need to stick with mpg for space. 297 movies and growing.

Thanks in advance.

Find a DVD that you are having sync problems with. Try re ripping the DVD to mkv using MakeMKV and see if you have the same sync issues playing back on your client (I assume your client is a PC)?

OK, Done. It works about like Anydvd with the same results.
They both play good.
The Anydvd rip played ok. The MakeMKV rip played ok.
I do have to say the MakeMKV is faster at ripping then Anydvd. About twice as fast. I am using my client PC Win XP 64 bit.

It has to be something that is happening when I convert to MPG.
I understand that I have to lose something to get a 4 gig file to a 1 gig file, but sound/video syn is not what I would like it to be. :-)

You can try using Handbrake + AnyDVD if you want to reduce the filesize of the mkv

Well, I tried [Cucusoft DVD Ripper + Video Converter Ultimate Suite] I don't like it, the result just does not look as good.
I have gone back to, [OJOsoft Total Video Converter]

I sent a support email and got some things to try, I am hopefull I can get it working everytime. Just a fyi for those that are looking for something that has worked pretty good for me. Out of 300 rips I have had maybe 6-8 that I will redo. OJOsoft Total Video Converter

I just can't give up on 1 gig movies ](*,)
