PP1 in French (and I guess in German and Spanish too) is now available here.

The installation went like a breeze. But, the link to the connector is not working. I know some have taken another route to install it but I can't figure it out. Tried /connector/oem, but nothing happened.

So if someone can give me steps, it will be appreciated. Else, the link will eventually be put active.

Do you have an English PC? If so, this is an unsupported config and can cause issues. Can you post the error message/bad link?

The procedure below does the trick for me !

Remote desktop into your server.

Copy and paste :

WHSConnector.msi
WHSConnector_x64.msi
WHSConnectorInstall.exe
WHSVersionUpgrade.dll
WHSVersionUpgrade_x64.dll
WHS_ConnectorHelp.chm
Setup.exe

From c:\WHS to Shared\Software\Home Server Connector Software

Disconnect from your server

In your internet explorer, type

http://{your-server-name}:55000/setup/WHSConnectorInstall.exe

It uninstall the connector and reinstall it.

Cheers

OK thanks guys.

Yakuza, all my network is composed of French components. For now, I have done a Server Recovery (many times in the last days) and have some router issues to correct first. So I will wait that remote connection is setup before re-installing PP1. If the error persists I will post it.

courtois, your name says it all. thanks for the procedure, I will try it as soon as I re-install PP1.

Post subject:  Where

From c:\WHS to Shared\Software\Home Server Connector Software ?

Where did you find this folder ( Shared\Software\Home Server Connector Software ) on a French WHS?

Thank you.

In French it is

{nom du serveur}\logiciel\Home Server Connector Software
Or go to your shares and find the "Logiciel" share, open it there you have the "Home Server Connector Software" folder

It does not work for some reason.

I am asked again to install the new connector even if it's installed.

OK so let's verify your procedure:
1 - you install PP1
2 - you receive a message as to your connector must be upgraded
3 - you are provided with an Internet address to upgrade (http://{servername}:55000/, but it doesn't work
4 - you copy all the files listed by courtois from C:\WHS to the share folder we discussed in the preceding message
5 - you type the Internet address mentioned by courtois http://{your-server-name}:55000/setup/WHSConnectorInstall.exe and you click on "Exécuter"

If you did this exactly well your problem is elsewhere and you should give us more detail on what doen't work, but give it a try again.

Update: for those who have tried this Connector installation procedure, and have not got the MSS tile on their client desktop, RDP in your MSS; if your MSS is in another language than English, ensure your explorer is set to show hidden files; copy d:/shares/software/Home Server Connector Software/oem/oem.msi and ../oem_x64.msi (this directory is hidden on French MSSs and probably other non-English languages to) to d:/shares/Logiciel (or other "software" translation share)/Home Server Connector Software/oem. End your RDP session.

On your client computer open your shares go to the ..\oem directory we just copied to and double-click on oem.msi (if you have 32 bit windows system) or oem_x64.msi (if you have a Vista 64 bit system). The tile should appear on your desktop, it did on mine.

I had the same issue to update the connector sftware for a French Server. The issue seems to come from the fact that when dowloading PP1, the connector files are copied to a "Software" folder while the Shared folder on the WHS is names "Logiciel" in the French version.
The "Software" folder is not shared on the Server.
I solved the issue by RDP to the Server and Sharing the "Software" folder. Then on the PCs, just go to the "Software" folder and launch the .exe file.
Obviously, copying all the files to the "Logiciel" folder also works.

This is unbelievably sloppy on the part of HP France or MS France (or whomever does the localized versions for this machine).

A similar problem exists with the itunes media aggregator which gets confused between the "music" and "musique" folders. We should not have to figure out workarounds to get basic things working on our machines.

Yet this is what happens when you get localized versions and non-existent local customer support. I will never buy an HP product in France again.
