After installing PP1, I added an external USB drive so that I could back up my shared files on the HPserver. I can perform a manual backup without problems, but I was expecting the ability to configure an automatic scheduled backup. The "Configure" option for this backup is greyed out. Since I use my server for storing my music, photos and videos I feel a regular backup is essential. Is it really not possible to schedule a backup of these server shared files???!

Shared folder backup is a MANUAL process. It was stated as so in the pp1 release documentation.

ONLY the PC backup to Server is automated.

Any idea how much space you need to backup the Server (not the shared folders)?

Would a 500GB drive do it?

You can only backup the shared folders, there is no way currently to backup anything else.

Windows 2003 has a backup program, however its use to backup the o/s is unsupported.

To back up your shared folders downloand SyncToy from Microsoft. This will sync your shared folder on your PC with your MSS. You can then add this to your PC task manager so it does it daily.
