I get a message when I click to run software I cannot access the device path or file and may not have the correct permissions. I had the same problem with the Beta which I had to copy to the desktop and launch from there. This time with the released version copying to the desktop also does not work. Please Help!

Right click on the file, PROPERTIES, then click UNBLOCK (bottom) and OK.

tried that and started loading then got a message about incompatible version, next I tried to unblock again and the option is gone to unblock.

I am still stuck at the permissions error even though I clicked to unblock it.

I had the same problem...stuck it the download file under documents and launched it from RDP

Will this RTM be tweaked or is this the official release? If a newer release is launched do we uninstall the RTM and get the new update?

Even though I clicked unblock it still said I needed special permission.
I copied to the HS desktop and it loaded from there.

You can't install from the network shares, copy to the server desktop and install there.

I'm not having such good luck. I eagerly came home from work, opened up the WHS Console and clicked on the "Check for updates" on the HP MediaSmart Server tab. It looked like everything was progressing smoothly - downloaded and installed. But, when I returned to the WHS Console after install, the Last Update date was set to 12/31/1969 4:00:00 PM. remembering the previous date listed was something like 2/17/2008, I thought that was odd, so I restarted the server - no change. I then downloaded and installed PP1 from Microsoft. Still no change in the date. When I click on "Check for updates", the dialog box opens for a few seconds and then closes - like it checked and I don't need any updates.

Has anyone else seen this or know what this means? How do I tellwhat version is running?

It sounds like you may have a bad 1.3 install? You can tell the version from the Hardware Status page.

I actually could not find the original install, so my guess is that the update failed somewhere between download and install. Anyway, following the instructions at the link you provided, the manual install of 1.3 worked. Now, off to explore the Add-ins...

Mine ran a couple of msi's with numbers including 18 and 19 in the filename and then went back to balancing storage. It dropped the console and when I re-opened it the box was still showing Version 1.1.3.19049 July 2007.

There's no connection to the HP MediaSmart Server Web Server server and a series of errors showing in the Software Updates tab under 'Settings'.

EDIT - 18:37BST (GMT+1) - have rebooted the server and all is now OK. Have not yet applied PP1 (only the HP Ver 1.3 Update which hung whilst unpacking Setupl18N.msi) so that's the next bit.

UPDATE - 08:25BST 23/7 - PP1 installed with no issues, other than the instructions on the MS website being wrong - well spotted Alex - you cannot run the install from a shared folder.
