TentacleSoftware isn't me, that's DiskManagement. The BDBB events are what I need to see, I'm particularly interested if there's a Null Reference exception in there. I'm guessing your backup has had a problem and is likely not in progress.

To where are you backing up? Can you share a screenshot of the "Create backup" window?

It sounds like he's backing up to the storage pool rather than a dedicated backup disk.

Sorry for the wrong screen shot, my bad. Here is a screen shot from BDBB in the WHS Console.
IO have also attached a second screen shot of the even error from BDBB. FYI the BDBB information event just after that said backup complete?
The screen shot showing 5% complete has been that way for 6 hours now. It seem you are correct. The back up has stopped for some reason.
How do you suggest I recover from this?
Your help is greatly appreciated.

It's saying you're out of space, I can only say that you won't be able to back up to Server Storage. I'd suggest getting a dedicated backup drive to use for BDBB backups, this is a more reliable solution anyway.

To recover, see if the Cancel button works. If not, reset your Server Console, and delete the incomplete backup from Server Storage.

Did you try to uninstall via Add/Remove programs? That would cause the error you see. Does the Add-In show up in the Server Console?

As the other previous posters have been doing, you need to look in the Application Event Viewer for log messages.

Alex,

re deinstall: the add in shows in the consol under the settings tab and then in the list on the left.

I try to deinstall through there too: click on add-ins, then desinstall the "installed addin"

Jaap_98 check the Additions.log and attach it here unless you see an obvious problem, in which case a snippet posted here is fine. The logs are on the server in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Home Server\logs

Jaap, that's from Feb 2009, you need to sort the files by Modification time, and send me the most recent additions.log right after you experience the uninstall failure.

Jaap, It looks like you already installed 1.0.3.3 is that true?

You've also got these entries:
Code:
[1]100914.181202.8196: Error: Failure 1638 at opening package \\SERVER\Software\Add-ins\WHSBDBB_1.0.3.3.msi
[1]100914.181203.0227: Error: Add-in \\SERVER\Software\Add-ins\WHSToolkit.msi does not fit WHS requirements

It appears WHS let you do something strange with installing add-ins. My best bet is to say uninstall any WHS BDBB add-ins via Add/Remove programs on the server via Remote Desktop, then use the Add-In Cleanup tool to remove them from the WHS installed Add-Ins list.
