I'm having a problem with my very early 470 rebooting and think it's temperature related. I've got the upgrades, and we all know they run hotter. I'm looking at the temperatures (with the console and SpeedFan) and want to get email notification from Alex' add-in or something like it when the temp goes over 60C, 70, and higher.

How can I do this? There ought to be something that does this... or is there?

I got this 470 right when they came out, don't even remember when that was. 2007? This is the only thing wrong with it... but it's clearly aging. I'd like to replace it with whatever new hardware HP has on the horizon... with Vail when it comes out. I'd think we'd see that by the end of January... meanwhile, this 470 has to continue living.

One of the Remote Alerting Add-in will send you server notifications when your server has an issue. There is also a file which I will be glad to point you to later when I have more time where you can change the temperature alarms so you will receive advanced warnings when your CPU Temp rises above a cetain level there is also an addin called AdminiMe which has settings you can adjust for monitoring purposes and also has an email notification.

However with the right fan adjustments in the MSS FAN CONTROL ADD-In you should be able to maintain a decent CPU temp regardless of which processor you have installed in your unit.

Just send me a PM to remind me to provide you links to the things I have already mentioned and I will be more then happy to send them to you when I return home from work today.

The file to edit the temp thresholds in the 1.3 software is in C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\HP MediaSmart Server\HP MediaSmart Server.ini

Code:
; temperature thresholds in degrees Celsius ;
; e.g.  cpuWarn=73   ; warning notification at CPU temp 65 degrees C
;       cpuCrit=100  ; critical notification at CPU temp 70 degrees C
;
cpuWarn=73
cpuCrit=100
systemWarn=60
systemCrit=65

So..... I'm confused.

cpuWarn=73 ; warning notification at CPU temp 65 degrees C

73 equates to 65c? And 100 is 70?

I want an alert when it goes over 60c.

And, I assume, this alert will end up going thru your email notification add-in, right?

The comment is bad, simply put in the value you want for the Notification to be generated. If the system generates a Notification, then my add-in will forward it to your email. Note that the notification must be active for 60 seconds before the email is sent.
