Just scroll through the Installed Add-in's there you should find McAffee Listed and there it should have a button to uninstall

Thats just too weird. What I would do is RDP your server and it will bring you to its desktop. From there goto the control panel and Add or Remove Programs then have it remove McAffee. The while your there you can open up the console you will see the Windows Home Server Console there so click on that. Then go back to your add-ins under settings and see if McAffee reappears but it will be listed under Available. Also if its there your will get an Alert telling you McAffee is ready to be installed.

To be honest if you can't find the add-in I can get that for you but your probably better off with Avast or F-Secure for WHS as McAffee doesn't really in my opinion play well with the WHS. But if you want McAffee then ok go for it.

Hi,

thanks for your help!

I am currently trying to RDP into the server to go into the control panel to remove the mcafee.

Yes I am trying to remove the mcafee & install th avast.

it's very irritating to have the mcafee add in on the console & not working.

thanks!

(PS: by the way I bought the Acer EasyStore H340 that comes installed with Mcafee trial... but it is not working after I set it up. the console says there are missing componenst & cannot activate).. and there is no add in....

thanks

Acer likes to shove McAffe on people the last two Acers I bought and they were computers not servers the McAffee loaded itself even after I rejected the installation.

If removing it becomes too much of a challenge then you should give McAffee a call to see if they have a utility to remove the software. Just make sure they understand its the software on WHS or they will send you in the wrong direction and they may even send you to Acer.

hi all,

I have managed to Remote Access into the server using remote desktop to uninstall the Mcafee total protection using Add/remove Control panel.

Apparently you cannot do it through the WHS Console.

There have been other postings about people buying Acer EasyStore H340 and having the same problem where you cannot Uninstall the Mcafee through the Add-In tab.

BTW, I have installed Avast antivirus software.

thanks for all the postings!

I think your going to like AVAST very much. Just take the time to expore everything it has to offer. Perform a scan so you know how long it will take so you can better determine the frequency of scans you would like the schedule. I found that it does a fairly decent job in the time frame of the scans. A few months back I posted some scan times from a couple of my servers indicating each servers capacity and how long it took.
