Hey all, so I was a little too motivated tonight, and tried to install both the PHP and MySQL addins. Although doing it right the first time, I seem to have messed it up. I tried to change the root password in the My PHP admin section after adding a user. This is where things went wrong. I tried to log back in, and low and behold, I couldn't. So... I did something even worse. I uninstalled, then tried to reinstall. It didn't work, so... even worse, I RDC'd into the server and uninstalled through the server/windows side. Now I can't uninstall through the console, I can't install even though the .msi is there. I NEED help... :(

My apologies for not responding sooner; you've probably seen me and Alex got a little tied up dealing with Vail release yesterday :-)

You just need to cleanup the entries in the registry on the server for each entry still left behind (this is because of the removal via the desktop and not the console).

I think you'll find it in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Home Server\KnownAdditions and deleting the entry from there may suffice.

Okay... Then what?

Thank you for the reply, I know it's been busy for you. I appreciate any help.
I went into regedit, and found both the PHP and MySQL entries, and deleted them. Then restarted. According to the addin panel on the console, both addins still exist. It also won't recognize when I place the .msi in the addin folder.

You need to delete the entries from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Home Server\RegisteredAdditions, they are stored under GUIDs but it's easy to figure out which ones to delete.

Okay, so I found two other entries in the registry, deleted them, restarted, paused, ate a sandwich, so on, and so on. It worked! Then I re-installed PHP, and MySQL. It worked! Then I tried to log in... it no worked...

I read through the original post of installing the MySQL addin, and I am coming up with a similar to someone else. The thread was a bit hard to follow at that point though, and it looks like his post was never directly responded to. the error is "PHP has encountered an Access Violation at 02772BEB"

I'd start with Cougar's suggestion in the other topic:

Quote:
I think this is a clash with libmysql.dll; doesn't seem to effect everyone for some reason either. Just rename the libmysql.dll in c:\program files\mysql\bin and restart and you should be good to go. It will be resolved in the next release.

If not, Nigel may have some input in the morning.

I'll be at work today for most of the day. I'll sure give that a try, but I might just have to uninstall again. I went to the MySQL site and tried a couple of things last night.

1: Reset the PW through the console
2: Reset the root PW at the console

Although I followed the guide, I didn't recive the output it said I should get. Changing the PW at the console worked, but root... didn't. It could be the .dll, but at this point I'll leave it up to you guy's theGOD's of MSS.net.

Thank you!

Yep; that would be the dll with the access violation; rename it or delete it from the mysql\bin folder and you should be back on track.
