Alex: I'm getting an error, but it's not a BDBB error, but BDBB causes it and it's the only time it occurs when I try to run a BDBB. The only changes to my system since the last backup are the addition of 2 MACs and the upgrade pushed out last week.

Error seting string value: Platform for key: Software\Hewlett-Packard\HP MediaSmart Server
Exception:System.UnauthorizedAccessException
Message:Access to the registry key 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Hewlett-Packard\HP MediaSmart Server' is denied.

BDBB isn't HP specific and doesn't use that registry key, in fact that Exception is coming from the HP code.

Does the backup complete successfully? You should see BDBB write Application Event Viewer logs saying when it starts and completes the backup.

Oh, and it'd be helpful to have a better subject for this. :)

The log shows it completes, but BDBB still shows an error window that pops up. Here's a screen shot... interesting note, I recall that in January I also restored an older backup and haven't run a backup since....don't know if this has anything to do with it.

That's a permissions problem trying to create a directory on your Z: drive. Is this a designated backup drive, or just a drive you've got in your server but not added to the storage pool? Try accessing that drive from teh server, see if you can create directories on it, especially in the BDBB dir.

Edit: Note that I believe the backup is NOT completing successfully.

You solved it for me... appears the permissions on the share drive became corrupted... once corrected, all is fine. Thank you!

Nice, glad it was relatively simple to fix. 8)
