I know, I know, why am I installing SQL Enterprise??? I use SQL server 2000 and 2005 at work daily, however we are just now starting to develop for sql 2008 so I want to get used to it and learn the new features. I plan on installing Gallery Server Pro on my WHS so instead of using the sql lite that comes with GSP i figured now is a good time to install 2008 and tinker with it. Also, I am a member of TechNet so I can trial all versions of MS software.

...anyways, is it ok to point the installer to the D:\ drive on my EX495 instead of installing to the c:\ drive? The C:\ drive on my WHS is a 20GB partition (as most of you already know) and I currently only have 8GB free space. No, I do not have many programs installed to my C:\ taking up unneeded space and I have done "disk cleanup" also. I really don't want to install anything to C:\ anyways but I am concerned that the WHS duplication will affect the SQL server install? It is my understanding that the duplication only happens for the "shared" folders, so installing outside of those folders should not interrupt or affect the duplication process.

It should be fine to install do D:, just don't put anything in D:\folders or D:\shares as those are managed by DE.
