I'm running my seventh weekly (Sunday Morning) bdbb since I installed the add-in. Looking at my external drive, I see six separate folders for each of those six previous weeks. Should I cull older backups? How much history is reasonable and prudent to keep?
TIA
John M

I think the best way to answer your question is how much your clients have changed since your previous BDBB Backup. Simply put it your clients are not changed all that much then why run another backup. However if there is a significant change to one or more clients that becomes of great importance to you then I would run BDBB again.

Another way to look at it is if you can not afford to lose something then back it up. On another note I will tell you that BDBB is as you probably already realize a valuable add-in and it works extremely well. The most important thing on my server is my client backups.

In the end I believe you already know the answer to the question because only you know the importance of your client software and what has truely changed to your clients. Of course my approach is simple in nature but I am certain that others will offer their suggestions and opinions which is the best thing to better help you determine your true needs. This is a great place for such discussions.

I do not worry about the age of the BDBB files as I control the content by controlling the client backup retentions. The ONLY thing I focus on is assuring the most current copy is of a valid client backup database.

John, may I ask how you check for validity?

I open the client backup database for AT LEAST one client and navigate to a single file each time I want to check it. When it goes bad you are unlikely to even be able to open it.
