It would be a shame to give up considering how far you've come! I'm wondering if the issue you have is similar to the access violation issue, so if you still fancy trying something, can you rename libmysql.dll from c:\program files\mysql\bin (Also check you dont have any sitting in c:\windows\system32 and restart?

I tried this. didnt work, at least not for this error. it worked when I got the access violation error. but this error, I dont know if you can even call it that, cos no message comes up, just nothing happens, so Im'm guessing some script is hanging up somewhere?
i tried using the web platform installer, but i think there was something wrong with the PHP code, cos wordpress would keep getting stuck on the 2nd step of the install (i would enter my email but it would keep asking for it over and over).
so im uninstalling/deleting everything, and i'll try one more time with the WHS add-in. wish it would work and not lock me out. the add in works great, really simple install (compared to what i had to do to install manually)
well, at least ive learnt alot about how the server works :-)

i think my server is cursed :(
im seriously considering reinstalling the whole system how can i be the only one having these problems???

Was the Add-In installed when you tried the Web Platform Installer? An uninstall will typically fail when either files are different to what it expects or are not present. If you want to see whats happening, RDP onto the server and look at the relevant log in %qlogs%, by all means send me the one from when the uninstall fails and I can try and work out whats causing the failure.

Your server does seem a bit "cursed" I admit.....

no. i had uninstalled the add in and restarted before i tried the WPI method. when that wasnt working, i unstalled that version of wordpress, deleted that database, and then tried to install ur wordpress addin. installed fine, but then i was having the previous issue, so i was going to uninstall the WPI's versions of PHP and MYSQL, and install ur addins of those pgms.. so i uninstalled the PHP, MYSQL, and when i went to uninstall the WP add-in, thats when i ran into this failed uninstall error.
do u know where i'd find teh log files. is it in the sys32 folder?
thanks

The logs are stored in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Home Server\logs

Cougar great add-ins thanks for the effort to make these available. Up and running in under 15 minutes with these tools.

Gallery 2 add-in would be cool...any updates on that yet?

Jim

Thanks, I have a G2 Add-In running but it's a little buggy and I have to figure out how/if I deal with some of the extras. I'm leaning towards doing a flat Gallery 2 install and the user can choose what else they wish to add themselves (think ImageMagik etc)

That sounds like the right approach that way users can customize. Let me know if you'd like help in testing...happy to help...

Took another look at the details on Gallery 2 and was thinking that loading the whole install package might be a bit simpler than a flat load with the users adding some pieces/parts on their own. This app looks to be a bit buggy to install based on my experiences fooling around with the install package...limiting the work that the end user needs to perform might make that a bit easier...of course, more work for you!

Does the PHP install that the add-in delivers work with Gallery as-is or is there some more configuration that needs to be done over the add-in result?

Thanks for the effort on these...great tools.

Jim

I've gotten the Wordpress Add-In working, and its working great.

Now I'd like to set up as second wordpress site on my WHS. My first WHS site is a test-bed for my family website. I plan to use this second WHS site as a photo gallery blog. I saw earlier Cougar suggested copying the contents from C:\inetpub\wwwroot\blog\ to another directory and run the install again. I copied it to a shared folder on the D drive (D:\websites\photo\), and ran the install. The install worked, but when I try to log in, I get a Directory Listing Denied error.

I've checked the Wordpress forums, but the only help offered to others with a DLD error is to call their host. Obviously that won't help me. Any ideas? Should I try to set it up in the C:\inetpub\wwwroot\ directory?

It's more than likely that php isnt registered for that folder in IIS.

1. RDP onto the server, and open IIS Admn
2. Right click on the virtual folder
3. Select the Documents tab
4. Click on Add...
5. Enter index.php and click OK.

I did the IIS Admin update. Created a webpage using WHIST. Copied the contents of the blog folder into the new webpage folder (and deleting the filler files WHIST created). Updated the config.php file so that this webpage will use a different set of tables in MySQL. And successfully ran the wordpress install for the new webpage.

Now, when I try to get to the webpage, I get either a big 'ol blank page or it'll bring up the blog page. I can get to the login page by specifically typing www. But I cannot get the actual page to show up.
